One Thankful Mother

No, I’m not just thankful for the chocolate strawberries or the heartwarming cards, messages, and pictures of our lovely granddaughter. Although, trust me, I love them all.

I’m thankful for my two beautiful stepdaughters.

It wasn’t all rainbows and unicorns when I married their dad almost 34 years ago, but we made it work and learned to appreciate our similarities and differences.

Stephanie, the oldest, is a dedicated dog rescue advocate; spending hours arranging transportation for large dogs seeking “furever” homes. She’s also a fantastic hair professional who promises to give her ol’ stepmom a new, kickin’ “do” on her next visit. After all, when you discover your present haircut on a 60s sitcom character, it’s waaay past time for a change. I can’t imagine life without this passionate, fiercely loyal, fun-loving daughter.

Every child should have youngest daughter, Sami, as a mother. She’s creative, crafty, also fun-loving like her sister, and spends her life making sure our two super grandkids have the best chance possible. A staunch environmentalist and lover of the outdoors, she teaches her kids by “walking the walk.” She brings such joy to all who have the good fortune to be in her circle.

As another Mother’s Day approaches, I want to honor them for bringing such joy into my life and for welcoming me into theirs all those years ago.

XO, Daughter #1 and Daughter #2 (no ranking implied!)
